Summary: Grave Encounters refers to an illustrated book about more than 20 years of archaeological work in the burial grounds of Green Point, Cape Town. The VOC and churches established cemeteries there, but many more people were buried outside the formal enclosures, including slaves.  Who was buried there, where, when and why?  How did we find out?  Why did controversy erupt in 2004 at Prestwich Street?  What is the situation now?
