Magdeline Neethling, a former teacher in Hermanus created Swallow Park over a century ago after she retired. Her nickname Swallow was given as she was perceived to dart around like a bird. This first public park in Hermanus has deteriorated over the years, and the CBD Revitalisation Cluster of the Hermanus Business Chamber has been given permission to proceed with transforming the park. This presentation will enable you to learn about Swallow, her park and what the Cluster group has planned to enable me to share their plans with you. Importantly the park will provide links to our cultural heritage too.
